When you pay a bill for a group (a dinner, some shopping), Split a bill works out how much each person owes you and records it all at once. Open it in More › Tools (on a computer, in the sidebar).
Step by step
- In Names, add the people, including yourself. Names are kept for next time.
- Tap (+) to add each item: the name, the amount and who shares it (tick the people). Save with Add item.
- With Split evenly on, the item is divided equally between the ticked people. Turn it off to type each person's percentage.
- The total at the top shows how much is already split: it turns red if part of an item is still unsplit and orange if it goes over 100 %.
- In Summary you see how much each person owes you (tap a name to see the items).
- Tap Generate loan transactions and choose who you are (who paid), the bill's name, the date and the category.
What gets recorded
- All transactions go to the account you have selected, in that account's currency.
- Your share becomes a normal expense.
- Each person's share becomes a one-off loan (Lent) with their name. When they pay you, mark it as Collected. See Loans; these loans don't count towards the Cobre plan limit.
- Each transaction's note lists the items and amounts.
At the end, the items are cleared for the next bill. To start again before that, tap Clear bill (the names stay).
Quantity multiplies only that item's price: 3 sodas at 500 Kz make 1,500 Kz. Percentages also belong to each item, so you can split each one differently.
