Every bit of money coming in is income with a category. The category says where the money came from: it is your income source.
Income sources
Macuta starts with the income categories Salary and Business. Create a category for each source you have (rent, pension, freelance work, interest), with the type Income. See Categories.
The money you already have
What is already in an account when you start is not income: enter it as the Starting balance when you create the account. That way, the month's income only counts what came in afterwards. See Accounts.
Recurring income
For a salary or rent, create the income as a repeating transaction (for example, every month). It shows in Scheduled and counts in the totals on the right date. See Future transactions and automatic payments.
See where the money comes from
- On Home, Income this month adds up all of the month's income.
- In Transactions, the Income tab shows only money coming in.
- In All spending, the categories show how much came from each source.
