Transfers between accounts

Move money, repeating transfers and exchange rates

A transfer creates two balance corrections: one leaving an account and one arriving in the other. The net total is zero. When you open the transfer you see both sides; if you change the amount received, the other side follows. You need at least two accounts.

Make a transfer

  • With the Transfer button, when creating a transaction (on by default; you can turn it off in Settings › More options › Transactions › Balance transfer tab);
  • with a long press on the (+) button, under Transfer;
  • when editing an account.

Fee

If the bank charged a fee, enter it in Fee: it becomes a separate expense in the source account, and is deleted with the transfer.

Turn a transaction into a transfer

An existing transaction (for example, imported from a statement) can become a transfer: open it, tap Transfer and pick the other account. Macuta links it to the matching movement in that account or creates the other half. Tap the notice to undo. Later, on the transfer's screen, Stop being a transfer turns it back into an expense or income, with a category.

Repeating transfers

Create the transfer, then edit it to the Repetitive or Upcoming type. Macuta asks if you want to change both transactions.

To a goal or a loan

Edit the transfer's in or out transaction and link it to the goal or loan.

Exchange rate

Between accounts in different currencies, tap Exchange rate in the transfer window to change the rate. By default, it's the rate set in the app. See Multiple currencies.
