Recover a deleted transaction

The activity log and how to restore

Deleting a transaction doesn't show an Undo button, but you can recover it from the activity log: Settings › Data › Transaction activity log (on a phone, Settings are under More).

  • The log shows the latest transactions created or changed and the latest deleted ones, newest first. Deleted ones appear faded, marked Deleted.
  • Tap a deleted transaction, then Restore. It comes back with the same account, category, amount and date, on all your devices.
  • Tap a changed transaction to open and edit it.

Limits

  • Macuta keeps a copy of the last 50 deleted transactions, only on the device (or browser) where you deleted them. On another device the transaction shows as no longer available for recovery.
  • If the transaction's category was also deleted, it can't be restored. If only the subcategory was deleted, the transaction comes back without a subcategory.
  • The receipt photo doesn't come back.
  • A transfer is two transactions: restore both.
  • Only transactions can be recovered. Deleted budgets, goals, accounts and categories don't appear in the log; if you don't want to see them but don't want to lose them either, archive them.

To undo a whole import, use Settings › Data › Imports. See Import movements and statements.
