Loans

Money lent or borrowed, one-off or long-term

Loans help you know how much you are owed and how much you owe. There are two kinds: one-off and long-term. Manage them on the Loans page (on a phone, under More).

One-off loans

Choose Lent or Borrowed as the type when you create the transaction. Money lent counts as going out until you mark it as Collected; money borrowed counts as coming in until you mark it as Settled. In the end, the total is zero. They're collected or settled in the same account.

Long-term loans

A long-term loan groups several transactions and shows the difference between them. Each transaction can be in a different account. When the total reaches zero, the loan is paid. On the Copper plan you have one long-term loan (archived ones count too); on Silver and Gold, as many as you want.

  • To increase the amount, add a transaction in the same direction.
  • To record a payment, add a transaction in the opposite direction.

Example

You lend 50,000 Kz: Macuta creates the initial 50,000 Kz transaction. You get 20,000 Kz back: add a Collected transaction of 20,000 Kz, and 30,000 Kz is left. If the loan grows to 60,000 Kz, add another 10,000 Kz going out.

Total offset

In a long-term loan, Total offset adds an amount to the total without creating a transaction. Use it, for example, for interest or costs that didn't go through any account.

Archive

When a loan is paid, archive it: on the Loans page, open the menu, tap Edit and then the eye icon.
